Capsule Wardrobe mit Style. We create trendy favorites for more than one season. We rely on timeless and innovative materials. We have our collections made in perfect calculated quantities in carefully selected family businesses near Porto, in the north of Portugal. Leather YES, but BIO.Yes, it is a fashion revolution: our leather (Biocouro) is tanned using natural materials in a pollutant and metal-free process and is a certified, 100% biodegradable natural product. The water used for production is cleaned without residues and returned to the natural cycle. We rely on high-quality, innovative materials with a consistently sustainable origin, like our chrome-free, European calfskin leather. Most of our leather is vegetable tanned by using alternative, chrome-free materials. For a good reason: One of the subtypes of chrome – which develops at high temperatures, for example - is carcinogenic and highly allergenic. In addition, the recovery of chromium salts is very energy consuming and produces multiple residues. Nevertheless, it is still common to use this mineral salt in leather tanning. Vegetable tanning is an organic alternative to the industrial preservation of leather skins: by using low-pollutant vegetable substances from rhubarb roots or the wood extracts of chestnut trees, the leather is processed entirely without chemical toxins or tanning agents. This method makes the leather especially soft and long-lasting.

Care for your leatherLeather is a natural product. As such, it changes with time and retains a unique patina. Nevertheless, leather should be treated with a certain respect by ensuring proper maintenance and timely mending. It’s indispensable to waterproof the leather before wearing it to protect it from moisture. In order to ensure a long last and to prevent brittleness, it is also important to store the shoes on wooden shoe trees in order to allow them time for recovery. Leather shoes should never been worn on two consecutive days, but always be granted a rest of at least 24 hours in order to ensure complete drying. Nourishing polish should be used on a bi-weekly basis or after greater soiling. Use a horsehair brush to polish the shoes afterwards.
